We have filled out all the paperwork and sent it off. We are now waiting for a referral. A referral is a child that has been chosen for us with medical and background information as well as a picture. We don’t know how long this will take, so we will just sit back and try to be patient. Unfortunately, every time the phone rings I think it’s our agency with news of a child! Guess I’m not being very patient yet.

We applied for approval from our government to adopt with the I600A application. We had our fingerprints done downtown at the homeland security office. I thought it would be a long drawn out ordeal that would take half of the day. It took us about 30 min. It was a little anti climactic. We should get our approval sometime in the next 3 weeks.

Our homestudy is complete and this is a picture of Connor mailing it off to U.S. Immigration for approval to adopt. Now we wait about 6 weeks (or more) to finish working on the Dossier. One big step forward!!

I just leaned about a very interesting project in Ethiopia run through Mission to the World.  Check out http://www.mtwact.org/mtwact.org/Home.html …a service to those with HIV in Addis Ababa.

Living out: James 1:27

Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress…

We had our final meeting with our social worker before the home study is done. She said it should be finished by the end of the week. One step closer to our new child.

We went to an Ethiopian Culture event last night at Indianapolis Grace Ethiopian Church. There was Ethiopian food and music, a coffee ceremony and discussion about adoption. It was a fun experience and something we hope to do again. We met several families who are in the process of adopting and some people who will be great resources for us as we have questions. Here are a few pics from the event.

We have our first set of classes this weekend. We are so thankful to John and Roselyn for helping watch the kids, but more so that they are so eager to help us out during this entire process. We are thankful for all of our family and friends for being supportive and excited for us. You guys are amazing!! We’ll let you know about the classes once we finish. I’m sure they will be very enlightening.
